**Scarce Pre-War Colt Super Match .38 Super Pistol with Custom Grips and Jeweled Chamber


.38 Super. 5" barrel length. SN: 25159. (Mfg. ca 1937) Blued metal finish overall with jeweled chamber mounting ivory grips with carved floral embellishments. Short-recoil operated single action autoloading pistol fed by detachable single stack magazines. Right slide is struck SUPER MATCH/COLT SUPER .38/AUTOMATIC followed by {Rampant Colt} logo with the left slide marked in two lines COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A./PAT'D APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902. DEC. 19, 1905. FEB. 14, 1911. AUG. 19, 1913. Frame is unmarked except for serial number. Serial numbers match on frame and on rear slide below firing pin retaining plate. Barrel shows jeweling to the polished chamber and retains a bright muzzle. Left side of barrel struck COLT SUPER 38 AUTO MATCH with the left lug marked with the additional correct circled MB marking. Sights are a drift adjustable military pattern rear notch and fixed front blade. Item mounts a King's gun works number 307 pattern buffered recoil spring guide. Comes with two Colt two tone magazines. {C&R}

Condition
Very Fine. Some residues to bore that should clean to Minty with sharp rifling throughout. Some scattered light scratches with operating abrasions to trigger and on the underside of the hammer spur. Some insertion wear to the magazine well. Faint internal cycling mars. Grips show some age toning with residues within details and some scratches. Both magazines exhibit gray mottled patina to upper magazine with some scratches and flecking to the blue.
